Fundraiser for Mrs. Brown's Fight Against Cancer.

Mrs. Teresa Brown has been a crossing guard with the Bartlett Police Department for over a decade and currently serves Oak Elementary and 9th Academy. We see her safely crossing our children with a smile and a high five every morning and afternoon, during rain or snow, heatwave or extreme cold, and she has never hesitated to confront anyone who puts our children in harms way.

Just recently, our dear Mrs. Brown has been diagnosed with lung cancer. She is scheduled to undergo surgery on June 17, 2025. Unfortunately, Mrs. Brown's insurance will not be covering the entire cost of her care. As a senior citizen on a fixed income while being the sole caregiver to her husband who suffered a debilitating stroke a few years back, Mrs. Brown does not have funds readily available to cover the unexpectedly large medical bill.

Cancer is a lonely journey even with the best support in every way. Financial burden is definitely a difficult obstacle to manage, especially while you are ill. Moreover, Mrs. Brown lost her dear daughter-in-law to cancer in 2024. Thus, Mrs. Brown's cancer diagnosis is even more heartbreaking for her and her family as they are still in grief from their recent loss.

I think this is a time that we need to come together again to help Mrs. Brown overcome the financial difficulty she faces as she begins her cancer journey so that she may focus on her health and recovery.
