Fundraiser for mom battling cancer

Donation protected

Hello everyone.

I never thought we would be in this situation but no one ever does. Unfortunately my mom has been diagnosed with a form of malignant breast cancer last year in November. In January 2024 they started the treatment and further investigation. After months of chemotherapy, surgery and more investigation they found out the treatment was not working and actually the cancer has spread to the lungs.

The treatment was being done in Romania through the state insurance as that is where my mom leaves. I live in the UK and my brother lives with her in Romania. He was the one who was handling all the situation mostly and eventually he came to the conclusion that they had to go private as the state hospital were not doing the investigation and treatment well enough or fast enough and it would have resulted in my mom loosing the battle.

They arrived in Vienna to a private clinic as they heard they can help them with their case. The doctors in Vienna found out they are dealing with a triple negative invazive breast carcinoma cancer with metastases on the lung. Apparently it is type of cancer that is very aggressive and moves and spreads fast and a swift action had to be taken. The doctors in Vienna from Rudolfinerhaus Privat Klinic Vienna fortunately managed to stabilise her and the plan will be for them to make a session of chemotherapy in there.

Unfortunately they do not work with the insurance from Romania so the bill has to be covered by us which is very expensive. We managed to raise some funds to pay a deposit and some of the treatment but at this stage unfortunately more funds are required for the treatment.

We know we cannot cover all the treatment here and the private hospital was kind enough to accept to cooperate with the state hospital from Romania to give them instructions on what needs to be done after to continue an effective treatment.

My mom, Rodica Helju, is only 55 years old and she still has her life ahead of her. Unfortunately my father passed away last year in January due to another illness that was mistreated by hospitals and we cannot leave that happen to my mother also.

That's why we are doing everything we can to make things move forward and whilst the state hospital should be dealing with this correctly, they did not. The only option was a private hospital and it is very expensive.

We are not exactly sure how much more we have to pay for the first dose of chemotherapy here but the doctors said it could be in the ballpark of 12.000 euros.

I must say that no one needs to feel obliged to donate but every little helps at this point. And if the fund raising money is to much and there is money left in the pot the money will either be reimbursed or it will be donated to another cause or charity.

Everything that is spent will be officially invoiced and will be posted here so as I mentioned every little helps at this point and advice is also very welcomed.

I want to thank everyone in advance that will help and hope that no one has to pass through this nightmare.
