We decided to create this fundraiser, in response to many friends and family reaching out with willingness to donate if needed. I want to start off by expressing our graditide for each and every one of you. The kind words, the prayers, the offer of support, has truly made this last week much more bareable for our family and our beloved Maxie! This has been a devastating hit for our family, both emotionally, and financially.

Just 2 days before christmas, Max escaped our fence and was struck by the mail truck on our street. He was immediately rushed to the only ER in our county that was open that day due to the holidays. He spent a total of 3 days in the ICU, and 2 more days in the hopsital awaiting a consult from an orto surgeon.

During his ICU stay, we were informed that he has multiple pelvic fractures which are preventing him from using his back legs. He had an abundance of other tests, which all came back good other than a little fluid in his belly.

Today we were informed that he will need surgery to correct some of his pelvic fractures. The surgery they reccomend, which will involve a plate and some pins, will cost between $8,000-11,000.... His hospital bill alone was over $4,000. Because this is a specialty surgery, we have been unable to find any low cost clinics in the area that offer this type of surgery. Other options we were given have been leg amputation or euthanization, both of which we could never imagine doing. Max is just shy of his first birthday :(

The original hospital we took him to does not have an ortho surgeon available for over a week. We have been transferred to a different hospital in Brandon as of today. We meet with the surgeon tomorrow (Thursday morning) to discuss surgery plans.
