Fundraiser for mats and equipment at our Dojo

Romiley Karate was established in 2003. We are a family-friendly club where both adults and children can learn the martial art in a positive and encouraging environment. We pride ourselves in having a welcoming and inclusive ethos based around respect and discipline - we really are a club family/community! Our team of instructors share a passion and expertise in karate and our students span a range of ages and abilities.

This fundraiser is to get the ENTIRE Dojo floor matted with 40mm mats. We currently have a small area of 20mm mats but these are now almost 20 years old and have seen better days. The rest of the floor is wood and can be very cold in the winter. With your help, we will get the entire floor matted which will be safer, warmer/easier on bare beet, and also give more space for us to train effectively such as takedowns, throws and sweeps etc.

The mats have been priced up at a shade under 3K which is discounted since we are buying in bulk. This price has been secured until the start of a June which gives us four months to raise the funds. Should we beat our target, we will purchase new strike shields and punch bags which would also benefit from being replaced.

Our students will be partaking in a “100 Kata Challenge” in the summer and they kindly ask for your sponsorship. This will be an exhausting event but something they are excited about. This will give them an opportunity to showcase their skills (on new mats with your help!) and do something for the cause. We will also be doing other things like fancy dress, cake sales etc. every month to help raise extra monies.

Romiley Karate is over 20 years old now and the small area of mats we have right now is almost as old as the club. With your help and generosity, we can get some new mats down which will also last us a long time.
