Thank you for taking time to hear our story.
My mom and dad have worked hard their entire lives.
My mom, she has dedicated her life to caring for others. She is a mother, who at 16, chose life and sacrificed everything to be the best mother she could be. Her children are living proof of her success. She has worked the majority of her life as a CNA. She currently works on a dementia unit and says it is the most rewarding experience she has had.
My dad, he worked himself to the bone everyday. Working 80+ hours a week to provide a wonderful life for his family. Exhausted and sore he still made time to be a dad.
My dad went in for a simple procedure on his stomach that will forever change his life. During surgery he had compilations and couldn’t wake up. Once in recovery and stable they discovered he had a hole in his stomach and the contents were leaking into his abdomen. They opened up his abdomen to fix it but were unsuccessful. He was becoming septic.
The treatment for sepsis is antibiotics, however, his kidneys began to fail and they could only give small doses of antibiotics. The doctor handed my mom pamphlets about cremation and burials and said he had done all he could do. My dad was going to die at 51.
My mom was his advocate. She demanded a second opinion and after days of going back and forth with the doctor, he was transferred to a specialist. We are so thankful for this second chance. Every week is hard. We hold our breath with every update. But he is alive.
He is in good hands but makes little to no progress every week. He is developing pneumonia, we are not out of the woods yet, but we are staying hopeful.
My mom has watched her best friend and soulmate fight for his life the last 3 weeks over FaceTime because she can’t visit him due to COVID-19. Her world is shattering and my dad is so scared and alone.
Throughout all of this she continues working 12-14 hour shifts despite suffering from an autoimmune disease that causes fatigue and pain. Expenses are adding up. She is desperately trying to find a way to make it through this without losing everything. I can’t imagine all the stress she is under. It breaks my heart to see them this way. I feel so helpless.
I ask you to help support them in this time of need. Anything and everything helps.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this and may you be blessed with love, health, and happiness.
