Fundraiser for Lyndsay Sinclair and Family

I am creating this Go Fund Me to help my friend Lyndsay and her family. Lyndsay has recently been diagnosed with Cushings disease, caused by a tumour on her Pituitary Gland.

Cushing's disease is a disorder caused by the overproduction of the hormone cortisol. Cortisol affects all tissues and organs in the body and due to the severity of her symptoms, she has had to be off work since March. Lyndsay is a mother to four young children, ranging in age from 4 to 11. When her son was diagnosed with Autism at a young age, Lyndsay became involved in running Autism support groups for other families in the area and has shifted her career path to work with adults with diverse abilities at NEXUS Community Support Society.

Lyndsay is active in her community, helps at her children’s schools, and is part of the PAC committee. She has become an invaluable resource for other families going through the process of an Autism diagnosis. She helps guide them through accessing the supports available to them in our area.

Leading up to the brain surgery to remove the tumour, Lyndsay will have to travel to the coast for pre-surgery screening, as she needs to see a neurosurgeon and ENT surgeon that is not available in our region. Her surgery will also have to be performed in Vancouver, where she will need to stay for a short period to recover. Once home, her recovery time will be anywhere from 3 months to a year, depending on how the post-operative hormone treatment goes. During this challenging time, she will need to have a caregiver bring her to Vancouver and extra support at home to help her partner Cody and their kids. Many of the costs, like the flights and accommodations, are not covered by insurance and have had to be paid out of pocket by their family.

This fundraiser for Lyndsay and her family is to offset living expenses, medical expenses, childcare and lost income due to her inability to work until early 2023. We truly appreciate any help, and thank you for your assistance.
