Fundraiser for Lucia Camon's Senior Thesis Film
Donation protected
Since I was a kid, the importance of art, philosophy, cinema, satire, poetry, and music have been drilled into me by my parents (so they really only had themselves to blame when I told them I wanted to study dramatic arts).
But mostly, I have learned from them the value of words. No matter what I was going through in life, my dad (a writer himself) always had some book or poem to share - something that opened my perspective and reminded me that we’re all connected through our experiences. This thesis film is, at its core, a thank you letter for that gift.
It tells the story of a young girl visiting her estranged father in his isolated town. On her birthday, he gives her a present (a unique book), and in that moment, something shifts: they begin to become father and daughter instead of strangers.
The impact of the arts is often underrated and under-funded, especially when times are tough, and it’s harder than ever to justify to parents a career in this field. I have worked part time all through school to help cover the costs of college but know I am very lucky to have had my parents support so far.
As my first fully independent project, this film means the world to me. I’ll be directing and acting in a story I wrote—one that’s both personal and, I hope, universally resonant. Creating this film is a dream, but independent filmmaking isn’t easy, and so IF you feel inclined and can afford to make a small donation I would deeply appreciate it (and will never ask you again!)
Every contribution—big or small—brings us one step closer to telling this story with care and quality. If this story resonates with you, if you’ve ever been moved by a piece of writing, or if you just love independent film, I’d be ever so grateful for your support.
Thank you. ❤️
