On Monday, February 6, Laura experienced an unexpected medical emergency and was admitted to the ICU. She was having sustained ventricular tachycardia brought on by acute heart failure that had been developing for some time. The doctors now have diagnosed her with myocarditis and her heart is very weak. She was transferred to Montefiore Einstein in New York on Friday where she is being treated for heart failure and myocarditis by a team of cardiologists who specialize in rare cardiac situations.

She will need an implanted cardiac defibrillator before leaving the hospital. Her heart will need time to recover and hopefully return to normal function with time and medicine.

She will need ongoing medical attention and follow ups for the heart failure and to monitor its progress and rhythms.
