Fundraiser for Kevin Kane Sr.

Donation protected
My father, Kevin Kane, is known to be one of the most kind, generous, and genuine souls here with us. After realizing he was going to become a father at 17 years old, he spent the next 14 years working 60 hours a week as a truck driver and mechanic to give our young family even a chance of success and happiness.

He was rewarded for all his hard work and dedication with a near-death experience from a previously undetected brain aneurysm in 2003 when he was 31 years old. The road to recovery was long and changed my family forever, with things never going back to "normal" for us. He started receiving SSDI and was unable to work except for a few part-time jobs that ended up endangering his monthly benefits anyway.

For over 18 years now, this event has cast a dark shadow over what should have been memories of family adventures, mutual successes and love, only to replace them with fear, hardship, and resentment for most of us. Except for Dad. Ever since the day he came home from the hospital, robbed of his purpose and many cognitive skills, there were no excuses or lamenting. Just an awe-inspiring attitude that never ceased. He became more concerned with making others feel loved and appreciated, dedicating his life to assist whoever he could; walking ten dogs a day for all his busy neighbors, waiting with a complete stranger for their tow truck to arrive, or just sitting and talking for hours with someone just as lonely and lost as the rest of us.

Dad has now been diagnosed with Stage 4 Choroidal Melanoma as of earlier this year. It is not currently cureable, and doctors have given us a limited estimate of time remaining. He has maintained his infallible attitude throughout this entire experience; throughout this entire life, to be honest. The doctors are doing what they can, but money talks and we don't have much else but hope.

Pop is my hero. And my best friend. And I know we're all so tired, but he could really use our help.

I'm setting the limit of this fundraiser to $15,000 because my family and I have been unable to get helpful answers from lawyers in NJ or VA about whether we would be responsible for extra taxes, penalties, etc from gifting any amount more than that at this time. I would love to increase this amount or start another fundraiser in the near future if we discover we are able to without penalty. The entirety of this fund will be given to him and his wife Marlene Kane for growing medical expenses, bills, groceries, etc.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
