My name is Maitland LeBlanc and I am starting a go fund me for my best friend Katlyn & her family.

Katlyn is the definition of strong and the poster of healthy, we’re talking about a woman who wakes up at 5am everyday and eats and drinks more healthy things than I even know the names of. Katlyns husband, Kyle, typically works out of province leaving Katlyn with a lot of the day to day parental responsibilities. You could normally find Katlyn all around town, taking her oldest daughter Olivia, to gymnastics, basketball, cheer and skating with her youngest daughter, Georgia, always on her hip. I admired her for it, she works a full time insurance job while being a mother solo some of the time while rarely complaining, she just always did the damn thing with such grace.

Katlyn found a lump a few months back and advocated for herself time and time again until she got it checked because she kept saying she had this “gut feeling” something wasn’t right. The only other symptom katlyn had was some chest pain which she kept saying she must’ve pulled a muscle lifting weights. Fast forward a couple weeks and Katlyn’s world is rocked to its core with a breast cancer diagnosis, her cancer had metastasized into her sternum and fractured it. Katlyn literally worked out for weeks with a fractured friggen sternum - is she badass or what? Katlyn’s life went from busy working, working out and taking Olivia to activities to having the tough conversation with her daughter that mommy was going to get a little sick and maybe lose her hair.

Katlyn has a fight ahead of her (which I know she’ll win - she’s stubborn like that), she’s starting chemotherapy treatments soon and will need surgery eventually. Her diagnoses as evidently impacted Katlyn, Kyle and their girls financially and I want to do everything possible to help relieve some of the financial burden her diagnoses brings.
