In June, 2021 Katinka Hartmetz was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, she has undergone 2 surgeries to remove the cancer. Katinka has been unable to work since then due to her surgeries and recovery, she starts chemotherapy in October; hopefully completing chemo by February of this coming year. As you can imagine, Katinka will have many needs as she fights this battle.

Katinka is a well known artist and is deeply involved in her community. She co-founded The Main Gallery, a non-profit cooperative art gallery over 20 years ago in Redwood City (now in Menlo Park.) In addition to being an artist, Katinka is also an experienced organizer; many of her jobs have been done free of charge for local seniors. She is active in Arts Redwood City, an arts roundtable in Redwood City that brings civic and arts organization leaders together with individual artists, promoting art in all forms and inspiring community engagement

Katinka will need our help as she navigates the road ahead. I have created this fundraiser for her to help with rising medical and living costs. This will help katinka financially and is also a tangible way for her to see the love and support of her community during a time when it would be easy to feel lost, afraid and alone.
