For those of you who don't know it, my brother Doug and sister (in-law) Katie are facing the challenges of Katie's multiple myeloma.  You won't find two more wonderful and more caring people anywhere...Just ask the many students at Eastchester High School that Doug has taught over the years. Or the volleyball players he has coached. Or the paramedics, EMTs, and firefighters he's volunteered with over many years. Members of Katie's wide circle of friends and peers can vouch for her true kindness, friendship and generosity . She's been an advocate and resource for other parents of kids on the autism spectrum since my triplet nephews were born and she made their growth and her development her mission.

As Katie comes home from her most recent hospitalization to tackle the challenges of regaining strength and mobility, they will need to reconfigure their household to meet her needs and special circumstances. They would never ask for help but would graciously appreciate whatever people want to do to help during this uncertain time in their lives.
