Fundraiser for Karen Breland, Medical Expenses

Hi. My name is Emily (Breland) Brannon. I've organized this fundraiser to support my beloved sister, Karen Breland & her family with medical expenses and other costs associated with her recent cancer diagnosis. Before I talk about cancer, I first want to tell you about Karen, because cancer does not define my sister. My sister is the best wife, mother & grandmother I know. She is also the best sister to me that I could ever ask for. The one thing she has always been to all of us in her family is an example; an example of unconditional love and grace. She is the tie that binds us and heart of our family. Karen has always been our biggest champion and has supported all of us through so many of life's ups & downs, without fail. I cannot adequately express how much we love her.

On Jan 6, 2022, Karen was diagnosed with Stage 4 esophageal cancer that has spread to her liver. She has been referred to USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute in Mobile, Alabama to consult with oncologists who treat this very specific type of cancer. Her treatment plan is still to be determined, pending tests and scans by the oncologists in Mobile.

Fighting cancer will be challenging enough, but along with that challenge comes the extraordinarily heavy financial burden of associated costs (medical supplies, travel to and from treatment, co-pays, meals, etc...). This fundraiser is organized for the sole purpose of easing some of the financial worries & burdens away from Karen and her husband, Al, so they can focus on her treatment & healing.

Some of you may know Karen personally, some of you may know me or other members of Karen's family. It may even be the case that this Go Fund Me comes to cross your path without knowing us at all. In whatever case, please know that any donation toward the goal of this fundraiser, any amount, large or small, will be considered a blessing. On behalf of my family, we are forever grateful for your support.
