I'm Jethro Libutan a student at Durham School of the Arts. On Wednesday, April 10th, 2019, there was a gas leak that caused an explosion and completely destroyed one of Durham's shops - Kaffeinate. The purpose of this gofundme is to raise funds to help Kaffeinate rebuild its store. All 100% of the proceeds go to helping the owner rebuild Kaffeinate. Any amount will help! This campaign is legit (this campaign is just not as well known as the other campaigns being held)! I have already talked to the manager of Kaffeinate about my campaign and I've told her the funds will be given to the Lee Family.

As of April 12, 2019, according to the Lee Family (the people who own Kaffeinate), are closing Kaffeinate indefinitely. All funds contributed so far and contributions made in the future will now go towards the Lee family! But, also according to their Instagram post, they are hoping that one day they will be able to reopen Kaffeinate. Hopefully, in the long term, Kaffeinate will reopen. But for now, the funds will definitely go towards the Lee Family. I hope you guys understand my decision!

Hi guys - thanks for everyone that has donated to the gofundme. We have raised $7331 and we wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help of you guys. Today my dad and I had coffee with Diana Lee. During this time we turned the raised funds over to her. Thank you guys again for making the fundraiser (gofundme) successful and for supporting the Lee family! #durhamstrong

Hello everyone again! I am closing the fundraiser, my dad has withdrawn the all of the money raised and I’m working on getting into contact with the Lee Family so I can safely give them the funds raised! Thanks again for everyone who has donated! I will be updating this page with more news as soon as I get any more info!

Hello everyone! Before I update, I just want to thank you all again for the donations! We have surpassed the goal by approximately $2000, and I never would have surpassed my goal without you wonderful people! My dad, Jay Libutan, and I are in the process of withdrawing the money. The money is going to be withdrawn soon, by my dad, so I can eventually give the fundraised money to the Lee Family in person (you have to be 18 or older to withdraw the money so my dad will be withdrawing the money - I'm only 16 years old). I plan to start talking with the Kaffeinate manager to make arrangements so I can meet with the Lee family in person to hand them the fundraised funds myself. That's all for today's update. I will update this fundraiser again very soon. If you have any questions, please contact through my email at jethrolibutan@gmail.com

Update: First, thanks to everyone that has donated money so far! We have almost reached a total of $4000 in contributions at the time I'm writing this update, and we are super close to our $5000 goal. Second, according to Kaffeinate's latest post on their Instagram page, Kaffeinate will be closed indefinitely... I have talked to Kaffeinate's manager about this situation already. She says the Lee family is very grateful for our efforts (our donations). She also says the funds we have already raised so far should go to the Lee family since Kaffeinate will be closed indefinitely. In order to respect the Lee family's decision of closing Kaffeinate indefinitely, all of the donations contributed so far and donations contributed in the future will now be given to the Lee Family. I hope you guys understand my decision.

If you have any questions please contact me at jethrolibutan@gmail.com.
