Fundraiser for Joe Zucco
Donation protected
Hello family and friends. We are kicking off a fundraiser to assist Joseph Zucco and we need your help.
Our friend and longtime Springfield resident has been fighting diabetes for over 30 years. As his illness progressed, he has had multiple hospitalizations with limited services in place over the last two years. On November 24 Joseph's dog Capone broke a drinking glass on the floor. Joe got up from sleeping and the glass went through his heel into his nerve endings. He has not walked on his own since then. At this time he has just completed his third operation and is vigorously fighting to save his foot. He is presently being moved from Mercy Hospital to Vantage, nursing home of Wilbraham. As we all know resources that were available to us pre-Covid are harder to obtain due to workforce shortages. His present condition requires a significant amount of travel to Doctor, medicines, rehab, handicap equipment, home, care, and assistance with his loyal dog Capone. Joe is facing challenges with his usual good nature and classic iconic humor.
He is looking at a short stay in a nursing home and will be released to his home, but his ability to be independent at home is an issue. He is presently wheelchair bound, and this money will go to support increased in-home care, not covered by insurance. His need to recover with no more amputation as a diabetic is important. Losing limbs, changes blood flow andblife expectancy for a diabetic.
For those of you reading this who might not personally know Joe he is a resident of Springfield with a daughter Brianna, son, Dominic and granddaughter, Aria. He has been active in our community always there to help giving the shirt off his back donating and organizing services to people in need.
We feel this is an excellent opportunity to give back to Joe in a time of need. Thank you for being as generous as you can supporting our friend.
