On June 13th at 6:45am Jheisson and his stepfather were driving to work in Rialto, when they were both suddenly stopped by ICE. With no time to react and no way to turn Jheisson and his stepfather exited their vehicle and were taken to the ICE detention center. Leaving behind their family, their home, and their lives as they knew them.
After that, his wife was left in the dark — confused, frightened, and heartbroken. She had no idea where he had been held or what had happened to him. The silence was unbearable. ICE did not provide information and that lack of communication left his wife feeling helpless and overwhelmed.
Jheisson is a devoted father, husband, son, and brother-a hardworking man from Columbia who came to the United States on a visa in 2018 in search for a better life. He is the sole provider for his family, which includes two young children and a teenage son. Jheisson is a member at Sierra Vista Baptist Church in Colton for over two years. One memorable example was when he voluntarily painted the church — not because anyone asked, but simply because he saw the need and wanted to serve. That’s the kind of person Jheisson is.
Now, with Jason unjustly detained, his family is struggling to get by. His wife was forced to cancel a critical medical appointment for their daughter. Their daughter was born with a serious issue marked by excess fluid in the kidney that requires careful monitoring and treatment. She made the difficult decision to postpone her daughter’s health care because her priority was finding and retaining an immigration attorney to help free her husband from ICE custody. No child should have to choose between their health and fighting for their parent’s freedom. It’s heartbreaking that, at such a young age, she’s carrying this kind of emotional burden.
To this day, Jheisson remains in a detention center in El Paso, Texas, separated from his family and unable to provide for their needs. Despite having no criminal background and never being formally charged, he is still waiting for a chance to appear before a judge. Jheisson has been enduring harsh and inhuman conditions in El Paso, Texas.
Jheisson's family is now facing overwhelming financial hardship, Without his income, they're struggling to keep up the rent and basic necessities- all while trying to raise funds for the legal help he urgently needs.
Any amount you can give to support Jheisson and his family during this heartbreaking time would mean the world. Your kindness can bring them on step closer to justice, safety, and reunion.
