Fundraiser for Jei's British Citizenship
Donation protected
Hi, it's Jei. Most of you, my friends, know that I have been a refugee in the UK since I was 5 years old. Other than a 2 year stint away, I have spent the rest of my life here, in the UK. Yet, somehow I still have not been eligible for British Citizenship for a while, until this year. I've put it off for a long time since it's not cheap, but flying on a Refugee Passport (Geneva 1951 Refugee Travel Document) is not easy and I literally just got denied boarding to my flight via Brussels to Berlin because of it (typing this as I wait for a flight that I had to pay extra for). I am tired of being treated differently, both in Travel and at Home. I haven't been able to vote the whole time I have lived here, yet all these elections affect me directly. I am honestly very tired of being a refugee and being constantly traumatised by the system that is not for me. I often get nightmares that I will be deported to Turkmenistan, and it's a real anxiety I feel, since my citizenship is still technically Turkmen. I believe that getting my citizenship will at least settle some of my instabilities and anxieties. I have been here long enough, I think I deserve to be a fully fledged member of UK society with the same rights as everyone else ❤️
Edit: TYSM for helping me reach my initial goal, anyone who follows me on Instagram will know I have lost my Refugee Track Document and residence permit for the UK at the Berlin airport and it is becoming clear it has likely bem stolen with €350 cash, which means I will have to spend money on an emergency travel document, which the increased goal will go towards. I love you all and appreciate so much the love you have for me
Edit: I initially thought it would be around £200 however it is more like £500 plus I need to extend my stay in Berlin as I get this sorted and change my flights. It's becoming extremely expensive and I will miss work shifts, which will further lose me money. I don't feel great about continuing to increase the goal but I really hope you understand and can continue to support. Thank you so much for everything so far.
