There are few people that from the very moment you meet them can instantly make you sense their great energy through their warmth, friendliness, and amazing smile. Javier is one of those people.

I met him almost seven years ago, as he was working at the consignment store next door to #1 Fifth. He asked me about any job openings at the bar and after briefly chatting, I immediately hired him to be at the door to greet customers and check IDs. From day one, customers began connecting with him. 

He’s a fast learner and a genuine people person so it was no surprise to me that he quickly moved on to work as a barback And eventually a bartender. It wasn’t long before he had become part of our #1 Fifth family and was embraced by everyone. 

He is one-of-a-kind, incredibly funny, handsome, has a great personality, is an excellent singer, and will always welcome you with that perfect smile of his. 

Javier is now going through a rough time, as he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer almost 8 months ago. He went through chemo treatments over the last 6 months, but unfortunately the tumor is unaffected by treatment and continues to grow. Javier and his doctors recently decided to stop treatment and instead his focus is now on enjoying living his life to the fullest.  With the little energy that he has left, he is still hopeful and has some wishes and needs he needs to fulfill.
We just want him to no worry about anything.
Anything helps, but also if you are not able to cooperate with money there is always your messages of love, or a visit to see him. Im sure he will be happy to see you.
