Fundraiser for James Allain
Donation protected
A golf tournament will be played on Saturday October 17, 2020 to raise funds for James Allain (son of Todd Allain and Charline Leger of Notre-Dame) who has been diagnosed with cancer: Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
James was first diagnosed with cancer in 2018 when he had a portion of his tongue removed due to a cancerous tumor. As the cancer returned in 2019, James underwent another surgery where his entire tongue had to be removed and reconstructed with muscle tissue from his leg along with 33 radiation treatments. James was told he may never speak again, but he surpassed expectations and is still as chatty as ever.
Unfortunately, the cancer returned in 2020. This time, James is undergoing a round of chemotherapy along with Immunotherapy (Pembrolizumab) which is a newly approved treatment.
Due to his medical condition, James has been off work for the past year and his fiancé, Isabelle Landry, has been working intermittently to support him through his battle. As one can expect, his finances have been stretched. Immunotherapy is a new treatment that has shown positive results in some, however it is very expensive. James’s insurance assists in covering 90% of the $11,000 for each treatment cost. James and Isabelle are required to pay the remaining $1,100 out of their budget every three weeks.
At only 25, James has been through more than most, but through it all, he has shown tremendous strength, courage and positivity. Family, friends and the community have been a great support both emotionally and financially for James, but it’s now time to reach out to others.
