Fundraiser for Hayden Ruffner and his Dad

To Hayden's family and friends, 


Hayden could use a little help right now that would mean the world to him. 

In case you didn’t already know, a few weeks ago, Hayden was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called osteosarcoma, which has localized in his left leg, just below the knee. He has begun treatment at Our Lady Of the Lake in Baton Rouge. Fortunately, even though it’s cancer, it’s not all bad news. Although Hayden has an arduous 6 months of chemotherapy and eventual surgery ahead of him, the prognosis is hopeful and he is expected to be cancer free after treatment.  

Hayden is in great hands. He was blessed with a great family, great parents and is surrounded by people who love and care for him. While Hayden’s medical costs are mostly covered, thank goodness, the additional hidden costs of an ordeal like this are compounding what is already exceedingly difficult financial times for many. 

We are petitioning for any help that Hayden’s family and friends can provide. Specifically, Hayden loves to get outside and shoot hoops at his Dad’s house. This currently isn’t possible in a wheelchair or while on crutches, but with your help, his Dad and uncles are prepared to put in the labor to build decking and ramps so Hayden isn’t stuck in the house. The ramps will also make the numerous trips to and from the hospital a heck of a lot easier. 

Despite the shock of all this, Hayden has retained his good spirits and is showing incredible strength of character in his courageousness and optimism, but we all know he really just wants to get back to being a 16 year-old young man - he will soon enough. He and his family are so grateful for the help they’ve received already and are hopeful that with the generosity of you and others in our family and family of friends, they will make it through this.

Even a little bit would mean so much for Hayden and his family.
