Fundraiser for George's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
George is my brother, but anyone who ever spent time with him would probably say the same thing. He’s someone who gives and doesn’t ask for anything in return.

If you’ve seen George over the past few months, you may have noticed his weight loss, stomach pain or him not having the same level of energy we are all used to him having. He recently found out that he has stage 3 colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer is the 3rd most common type of cancer but is normally found in people 50 years and older and not someone as young as George, who recently turned 34. We are all devastated by the news but in typical George fashion, he is upbeat and ready to take on the fight of his life. His treatment plan will involve a combination of chemo and radiation therapy over the next 7 months followed by surgery. George is a fighter and has been dealing with the pain in his body for some time now, not knowing what was going on. Now he has a plan to fight back. Unfortunately, with this type of cancer, pain medications are not an option due to the adverse effects they have on the digestive system. There have been and will continue to be many days where he will not be able to work. We are raising money to help with George’s medical bills and living expenses to hopefully make the weight he’s carrying a little lighter.

George grew up in East Northport and attended John Glenn High School, graduating in 2006. He’s a talented musician and singer who’s played in many bands across Long Island and New Jersey for over 15 years. In 2016 he began working for Sand City Brewing Co. in Northport village. Soon after he became a Northport resident and a beloved fixture in the community. He’s known all over town and greets every dog he sees by name. Whether you know him from school, The Lark in East Northport, the music scene, Sand City, or are one of the countless friends he’s made along the way, you know you’ve made a lifelong friend in George. Thanks to this, we know he will have a huge network of love and support to see him through the tough road ahead.

Family is extremely important to George. He’s always been there to help bag leaves or put up a coat of spackle and he never misses a birthday party, school play or dance recital. And he always brings beers to the after party. I feel lucky to have him as a brother and to have watched him turn into the loved and respected man he is today.

George will be starting his treatment very soon. Many of us have known someone who has battled cancer, so we have some idea of what he’s up against. He’s strong and ready to fight but he’ll need support from the people around him. We want to do whatever we can to help him win the battle and see him through this difficult time. We’re all here for you George!

We will be using this page to post updates and well wishes. Please feel free to share your George stories below, but let’s keep it PG.

Thank you for helping in any way you can.
