I started this GoFundMe page to help my sister, Caroline, and my brother-in-law, George Perdue. George was diagnosed with ALS two years ago.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
Caroline and George are two of the nicest people you could ever meet. Even with everything that they are going through both can be seen with smiles on their faces.
Yes, luckily, they do have insurance but there are so many things that are not covered. All those things that people never even think about, do add up. They are currently awaiting the delivery of a motorized wheelchair, most of which but not all was covered by insurance. They have travel expenses going back and forth to Charlottesville and Roanoke for medical care. They have had to structurally modify things in their home. As I said, there are so many things that are not covered by insurance.
In this Holiday Season, I know many people like to contribute to a charity of their choice. Please consider donating to Team George
