UPDATE 1/25/2023

WE HAVE GOOD NEWS...Gabbi's scans have come back clear, no sign of cancer!

This news comes a little late, at Gabbi's request. The journey has been long, and recovery, we predict, will take just as long. I don't think she was quite ready to share when she first got the scans at the beginning of November as processing the process has been mentally changeling, but she is now ready.

On December 21st, she rang "The Bell" and is now considered to be in remission.

It was a one-year journey almost to the exact date that she first was sent to the ER during swim practice at Southwest Oregon College, crazy that she went through so much in just one year, a total of 80 days spent in the hospital to be exact.

I cannot thank the staff at Children's Hospital enough for all the care and compassion Gabbi was given and I cannot thank you all enough, my friends, for the overwhelming support.

Gabbi also had a wonderful experience, being nominated for the Baller's Dream Foundation, a local non-profit honoring young cancer patients in the Valley. It was an amazing night, with a fun roasting and an amazing gift of a 2-year membership to Lifetime Fitness to help with her recovery. Special thanks to Frank and Breylin for choosing Gabbi and to the Bone Marrow Team at CPH for nominating her.

Gabbi's next steps include quarterly scans for 1 year, 6 months scans for 1 year, and yearly scans up to year 5 at which time she will be considered cancer free. She is getting to the gym, finishing up her last 2 years of College, and working on regaining her independence, aka wanting her own car...LOL!

Thank you for sharing this GoFundMe, and donating if you can, big or small it all helps and goes directly to her current medical bills and future medical needs.

Love this kid!

I am fundraising for Gabbi...My strong, brave, amazing daughter!

First off, thank you all for the incredible words of encouragement and support. We are very lucky to have such wonderful family and friends. It is hard to believe we started this journey close to a year ago. Hoping for good news at the beginning of November when she is scheduled for another PET Scan.

I am starting this GoFundMe because Gabbi needs some help.

Gabbi's Story: As most of you know, Gabbi was a collegiate swimmer at Southwestern Oregon College entering her 2nd year when she started having slow race times and overall fatigue issues. At the end of October, during practice, she was having a difficult time breathing and was taken to the emergency room in Coos Bay, OR. Three days later we had her home in AZ, followed by another ER visit on the 31st. Her first doctor's appointment was on November 3rd, 2021, and that same day she was admitted to Saint Joseph's Hospital. One week later she was transferred to Phoenix Children's Hospital and 3 days after that she was diagnosed with Large B-Cell Medistanial Lymphoma.

She was told she would need 6 rounds of CHOP Chemotherapy, all requiring a 5-day hospital stay. After the 6 rounds, we thought Gabbi's cancer was gone, but within 6 weeks it had returned.

She was told she would now need 3 rounds of RICE Chemotherapy also requiring the
5-day stay, followed by 1 major blast of BEAM Chemotherapy, and then she would need a BMT (bone marrow transplant) with an expected 5 to 8-week hospitalization.

After 5 weeks she was discharged and is now trying to recover as we wait for the next PET scan scheduled for the beginning of November.

At this time Gabbi has medical bills leading up to her PCH admittance and she has been told to expect future side effects from the BMT as all her internal organs were pushed to their limit. She may have lifelong issues as a result but she is strong and will keep pushing through.

It's hard to ask, but when it comes to this kid, there isn't anything I wouldn't do for her. 100% of your contribution goes directly to Gabbi and her current/future medical expenses.

Thank you for sharing!
