Florence’s Shoulder Amputation Surgery

Florence is a loving, four year old foster kitty that came to us from a rescue in North Platte, NE. She was found with her leg caught in an inhumane animal trap. The kind folks who found her contacted a local rescue and got her to a vet for emergency surgery to amputate her front right leg. The rescue couldn’t find anyone to foster her through recovery so we helped coordinate transport to her current foster home, with me, in Denver. She has seemed to be recovering okay, with the incision healing well. However, something seemed off. Cats aren’t the best at showing pain. I took her to the vet anyways and it turns out she is in quite a lot of pain. The vet in NE saved her life so I want to be clear how grateful I am. She is alive. However, her shoulder and shoulder blade were left intact, which isn’t done often due to possible long term issues. Florence is having those issues now and as soon as we get the go ahead from the orthopedic specialist, she will be getting the rest of her amputation.

Florence has every reason to hate humans, to be resentful towards me, but she’s not. She has had such a hard life but somehow, she remains so desperate to give her love and receive it and she deserves to live a long happy life. I appreciate anyone who canhelp towards her surgery.
