Firefighter Dylan Castello sustained serious 2nd to 4th degree burn injuries while working on a structure fire recently. He was transported via helicopter to the nearest level one burn center in Denver, CO.
We are hoping to help offset some of his living expenses while he recovers.

During firefighting operations last evening there was a unforeseen sudden and erratic increase in fire behavior. Unfortunately as a result of this fire behavior PCFPD firefighter Dylan Castello suffered serious injuries.
With permission from Firefighter Dylan Castello, his injuries are 1st to 4th degree burns.
Firefighter Castello sustained significant 2nd to 4th degree burns on his right hand, with 1st degree burns on his right arm, shoulder and back. Firefighter Castello has also suffered 3rd degree circumferential burns on his left wrist.
Firefighter Castello is scheduled for a skin graft surgery this coming Monday (March 9, 2020)
At this time Firefighter Castello's estimated hospitalization is going to be approximately 3 weeks. His recovery will be extended including both physical and occupational therapy.
Firefighter Castello is 26 years old he is a dedicated volunteer firefighter with us. He joined PCFPD in 2019 after completing our rigorous firefighting academy.
Firefighter Castello works as a Arborist as you can imagine this incident will impact his ability to work for a while.
