Hi. My name is Sanket and hail from the beautiful Fiji islands. This country has given so much to me, my family and friends. So seeing what's happening to the country I will always call home, is absolutely heartbreaking. Fiji's just been impacted by a very serious COVID outbreak, the delta variant. Cases for the past 2 weeks have shot off the roof, close to 400 cases per day for the last 2 weeks. Total cases in the country have reached just over 10,000. Whilst there's recovery, the death tolls are also increasing by the day. Total deaths have reached 59 and still counting. With international borders closed, the country has also suffered heavily from no tourism, given this is the engine that keeps the economy running and stabilized. Tourism is also the key source of income for a lot of my fellow Fijian Islanders. And with hotels shut due to international borders lockdowns, people have been laid off. Naturally, it's getting harder by the day to put food on the table. Government is also trying however this is out of control. Hospital beds are no longer available, and medical facilities including doctors aren't able to cope. With all the love for my country, I thought to open this Go Fund me page to reach out for support for my people. Everyone in this world is going through setbacks of their own during this hard times. And so is Fiji. And it does need our help. I would really appreciate if you could reach into your pockets and make as suitable a donation to help the needy. All funds raised will go towards charities that are directly involved in delivering rations to families in need. I have yet to confirm the charity I'd donate to but have 3 potential charities in mind including Rotary Club, Make a Difference Fiji and Said Prema. All are registers NGO organisations and have had a successful track record of doing slot of good for the people for Fiji. I personally have friends who are also volunteering for the charity so trust that funds will be utilised in the most beneficial way. Lots of love and thank you in advance.
