Dear All,
The recent and sudden demise of Dr. Srinivasa Venkatachalam, a world-renowned Siddha Doctor has left many of us in a state of shock and despair. He passed away on May 29th, 2021.
From an early age, Dr. Srinivasan’s life revolved around divinity, temples, saints and spiritual leaders. He chose a path of learning about Siddha Medicine. As his knowledge about the ancient science deepened over the years, he treated people from all walks of life and around the world. He founded the Kurumbala Herbal and Research center at Courtallam in 2000 and conducted extensive studies on various diseases. While he treated a wide array of illnesses like diabetes, infertility, allergies, tinnitus, etc. his heart was particularly drawn towards understanding Autism, Kids in Spectrum - Pervasive development Disorder & Pertinent ailments and treatment as prescribed in the ancient texts. He spent over 20 years researching, conducting case studies, and treating children. It became his calling and his life’s mission to bring solace to the families of children with Autism.
Dr. Srinivasan traveled wide (including FETNA and World Tamil Conference, Chicago, 2009) and was conferred with many honorary titles for his work. Amidst his busy schedule, he dedicated a fair amount of time to learning more. While he had degrees in Siddha, herbal medicine, naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, he actively pursued a Ph.D. in Medical Astrology in the last two years which would have been completed this year.
While many of us perhaps only knew him as a doctor, he was well respected by several Seers and spiritual leaders for his extraordinary knowledge involving “ashtabandana prathiksha”, an ancient technique involved in consecration of idols while renovating temples.
While the Covid pandemic was ravaging the country, he worked tirelessly to help many around the world.
Dr. Srinivasan was 52 years old and is survived by his wife, a homemaker, and two daughters (in medical college and high school). He took his nephew, Dr. Manikanda Prabhu, B.A.M.S (Ayurveda and Surgery) & M.Sc. (Yoga, Varma and Herbal Science) under his wing and trained him. We take comfort in the fact that today the research and treatment work continue under Dr. Prabhu’s guidance.
Whether Dr. Srinivasan had met someone recently or had known him for years, he had the ability to leave a deep impression through his towering personality, smiling face, love, compassion, and sincerity in addition to his great skills as a Siddha doctor. After meeting him, we have witnessed many patients walking away with a smile and hope on their faces. He will be truly missed by countless.
As we grieve and cherish the memories of Dr. Srinivasan, we are very grateful for the blessings to have been associated with him in this lifetime. We would like to do our tiny part in supporting to continue research work at Kurumbala Institute and his family through this fundraiser for securing his children’s future education.
We hope you can join hands with us.
Sincerely,
Anbu Subramaniyan, Pushpa Caldwell, Rajesh Navaneethakrishnan, & Gomathy Periathiruvadi
