We are raising funds to produce a pilot for a documentary series about the mental health charity Psychs on Bikes.

Psychs on Bikes is a group of mental health professionals who travel to rural and remote communities to raise awareness for mental health and to offer free health checks to target the ‘four silent killers’: hypertension, diabetes, depression, and alcohol.

This May, the team will set off to travel around Australia to visit communities in some of the farthest-flung corners of the country.

Sydney psychiatrist Dr Joe Dunn was inspired to start a charity after seeing a real need for greater mental health support in remote Australia, “Unfortunately depression and suicide rates are much higher in rural areas, so when our motorcycles roll into town it’s a chance to start a conversation and to ask the question, ’How are you travelling?’”

With Australia emerging from the shadows of a global pandemic, the series pilot ’How are you travelling’ will uncover the mental health landscape of our most vulnerable people.

By supporting us to make this pilot we hope to reach out to Australians who are struggling and to start a conversation about mental health.
