Fundraiser for Debra - Please donate what you can

Hello all --

This is Hannah Willis, daughter to Debra Peace Powers, writing today to ask for financial help after a life altering fall my mother sustained in an unsafe situation in her hometown of Crestone, Colorado.

On January 22nd, 2023 Debra fell in a home she was renting, subsequently resulting in a multi-fractured pelvis and back, a shattered wrist, and torn ligaments in her right arm that have now undergone multiple surgeries. She has possible permanent nerve damage to her right hand (which happens to be her dominate hand) and arm. She will be having a third surgery on her hand in the next few months. Her hand may never be the same but we are hoping for the best.

These physical damages to her body do not account for the emotional and mental trauma she suffered this entire year as well, due to these injuries. It has been a very difficult year for her.

There is no firm prognosis on a full recovery from the nerve damage she suffered to her arm and hand. She is also still recovering from the fractures to her back and pelvis.

After falling in this rental home she was forced to move out of the space, after her second surgery, while still recovering. At that time she was facing homelessness. She still had no stable living situation.

Due to the extent of her injuries she has been out of work this entire year and currently cannot afford a place to live on her own. The small size of the town she lives in does not offer many affordable housing options and she recently had no other choice but to leave her home in Colorado and live with a friend outside the state.

This being a temporary situation, she must return eventually to her home in Colorado and resume construction on her home - and hopefully start working again (once she is able).

Due to mounting bills and various expenses, I am making this GoFundMe today in an effort to raise funds to alleviate her financial stress.Any amount will be helpful and I appreciate all of the love and support already given by so many - both within her community and elsewhere.
