In April, while vacationing with her family in Florida, Colleen lost use of her left leg and suffered a fall. She was transported to the emergency room in Orlando. Initially, it was thought that Colleen had suffered a stroke.
After several tests and a biopsy, it was determined that Colleen had a large tumor impacting her spinal cord. The medical staff had determined that Colleen had stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma. Colleen had undergone surgery to de-bulk the tumor and to reinforce her spine, but still has a very long way to go.
Colleen has received her first dose of chemotherapy and is scheduled to receive a second dose in a few weeks. The medical staff in Orlando is determined to help Colleen regain her strength so that she may return home to buffalo and continue treatment and therapy.
Colleen's husband David has been by her side through this entire ordeal, but both are quickly learning that their medical insurance will not cover many of the medical costs. This includes a physical therapy hospital room at an estimated cost of $6000 per day which is not covered.
Colleen and David have found themselves in a time of need. Their family is hoping to find a way to help offset the cost of the medical treatment and bring Colleen home to the rest of the family. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. ❤️
