My name is John Mulhern and I am a lecturer in Sport at Belfast Metropolitan College, Northern Ireland. As a keen Judo player I have made contact with Daniel Endeta the head coach from Océan Club Judo in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. Daniel teaches to over 150 local children every day - many of whom are orphans and living in impoverished conditions - who attend class every day not only for the amazing training and life skills that Daniel teaches them but also to receive a meal. Many of these young people also lack access to the basic needs to practice the sport of Judo such as a suit, belt and other training gear. The club also has no access to proper judo mats, showers or other basic facilities, relying on a tarp pulled over a dirt space in the open as their dojo area.

I have decided with my sports students to partake in several fundraising events over the next few years to try and raise as much money as possible to help Océan judo club obtain the basic equipment and means to allow young people in Kinshasa to train and improve their lives through Judo.
