Fundraiser for Cian Kennedy
Donation protected
Hello, in April 2024, Fin, Josh, Ned, Luke and Archie will be running the Brighton marathon in the name of our dear friend Cian Kennedy. We will be raising money for 2 charities: the New Zealand Heart Foundation and the Yasmin Caldera Fund.
As most of you will know, Cian suddenly and unexpectedly passed away due to an undiagnosed heart condition, aged just 24. Cian truly was the best of us, he lived his life to the max, bought joy and laughter to anyone he came across, squeezed every last inch of fun out of life and touched so many lives.
Tragically, every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Awareness not only helps identify those at risk, but also ensures correct clinical practice when treating a young person with an inherited cardiac condition. To try and prevent more families and friends feeling the devastation we all have, we will be raising money for for the Yasmin Caldera Fund.
Every penny raised through the Yasmin Caldera Memorial Fund is used to fund heart screening days in association with CRY for young people, aged 14-35, at local schools and sports clubs, free of charge. Cardiac physiologists and cardiac research fellows run a series of ECG and echocardiogram tests on attendees to pick up asymptomatic heart conditions. If an anomaly is identified then a referral is made to see the CRY team at St George’s Hospital, Tooting, or in a more local cardiology department.
