Carmelo (Carmen) Sorce is a 25 year old police officer for the Pemberton Borough Police Department in New Jersey. When Carmen’s not serving as a police officer, he serves as a drummer on the worship team at his church. Carmen has always been healthy and active and has had no outstanding medical history. When Carmen was diagnosed with testicular cancer this past June (2019), it took everyone by surprise. Five days after his initial diagnosis, he underwent surgery to remove a malignant mass, classified as an orchiectomy procedure, requiring him to take two months off of work in order to fully and properly heal. Carmen’s surgery was successful in removing the tumor, and the tumor level markers in his blood count continued to drop over the two-month time period he was home recovering from surgery. However, a recent CT scan has shown that the initial cancer has spread into his lymphatic system, forming two areas of concern in his abdomen. Carmen will need to undergo another surgery, this time to remove lymph nodes in his abdomen. Unfortunately, this surgery will be far more invasive in comparison to his first operation, requiring Carmen to remain in the hospital for up to a week and to be out of work for another 6-8 weeks. Carmen has used up all of his allotted sick time for work and with the upcoming surgery being necessary, Carmen will be home without an income, leaving us searching and praying for ways to cover medical expenses, pre-existing bills, etc. We are asking for your prayers and your help to raise funds to support Carmen during this season.
