On 23rd April 2022, me and friends are taking part in 15km 30 obstacle Tough Mudder in memory of my brother, Gareth Heaps.

I ask my friends and family to support us by helping us to fundraise for Brookfields Special School, Widnes - a school close to our hearts.

Brookfields is a primary special academy situated in Widnes, Cheshire. The school specialises in education for pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders. Gareth was non verbal, autistic, epileptic, dyspraxic, and had severe learning difficulties.

At the age of my 11 brother had been removed or expelled from 2 schools as they “couldn’t handle him” and his needs were too complex. Brookfields School welcomed him with open arms, they supported, developed and loved Gareth until the end and we are forever grateful.

My family and I give thanks to the students, staff, teachers and the school for everything they did for Gareth and for that reason I wish to give something back by organising this fundraiser for the school.
