Fundraiser for Brioche's chemo
Donation protected
Since August, we've absolutely fallen in love with the sweet demeanor and personality of our recently adopted rescue dog Brioche - she is currently being treated for cancer.
She's had a hard life prior to making her way to NYC: roaming a mountain as a stray, losing her puppies to malnutrition, and being struck by a car, she finally made her way to a forever home. She is a super affectionate 4yr old dog who loves to lounge on the couch and play with her toys. Unfortunately, soon after adopting her, we discovered that she has cancer.
We adopted Brioche in August, through the organization Zani's Furry Friends. Not long after, she began to get sick. Several emergency vet visits, blood tests, xrays, and a sonogram later we found out she had a tumor pressing on her organs that needed surgical removal. Her symptoms progressed quickly within a couple of weeks to the point of throwing up blood, bloody discharge and incontinence, so we took her to an emergency vet where they performed an exploratory surgery and removal of the tumor.
Brioche has been healing very well from surgery, and from a biopsy we now know that her tumor is a form of cancer called Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT). The good news is that TVT is highly treatable with chemotherapy. She just had her third round of chemo this week, out of 6 - 8 rounds total.
Since all the vet emergency visits, exams, surgery, ICU recovery and chemo have added up very quickly, we are asking for some support in taking care of our wonderful pup's medical needs. It's a hard time for everyone, so anything you can afford to contribute would be helpful and greatly appreciated.
See below for her bills and more photos.
Thank you!!
