Fundraiser for Brian Rohr & Jodi Rohr

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Barb and I'm setting this GoFundMe up for my dear friend Jodi Rhor & her beloved, Brian Rohr. On December 25, 2021, Brian started to not feel well in the afternoon. He started having high fevers that evening. On Monday, December 27th, Jodi rushed Brian to the closest ER, Woodwinds, thinking he was having a stroke. They rushed him to CT and started doing all sorts of tests. He needed to be admitted. They could not find him a bed as he needed a neuro ICU bed so they had to admit him and house him in the ER for two days when they gave up on finding him a neuro ICU bed as the entire state had nothing available and Brian was 58th on the waiting list.

He was admitted to Woodwinds hospital and has been diagnosed with a rare severe meningoencephilitis. The disease process is harsh and Brian has been in severe pain along with cognition deficits. He has a hard time communicating, finding words, remembering details about his life, and remembering what is happening moment to moment. He was hospitalized for 10 days until Jodi could take him home to continue to provide his care. He needed aggressive antiviral treatment for 21 days and has struggled with acute renal failure due to this.

They have 2 kids in college and one kid in high school. Brian is on home infusion therapy - while Jodi is providing all of his care for it and a home care nurse comes once per week to draw labs and change his PICC line dressing. He is no longer on antivirals IV just IV fluids for keeping him hydrated and to help with acute renal failure. He will be going to Rochester Mayo in February. He will need MRIs until the swelling goes away to monitor and decide his treatment needs. He needs Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. The meningitis is managed by infectious disease and the encephalitis is managed by neurology. This is a rare meningoencephalitis that is life threatening. They do not know his prognosis yet; they are all just amazed that he is alive! He will likely have brain damage they just don’t know to what extent. He needs constant supervision/care and they don’t know if that will ever change. They are hopeful that since he had early intervention that he will recover but if he does recover it will likely be a long years process.

Brian is a veteran of the United States army and has worked at Oak Park Heights Correctional Facility for 21 years as a corrections officer. Jodi has been a nurse for 22 years and is currently working @ TRIA Orthopedic Surgery Center for 5 years. As you can imagine, the medical expenses and bills are piling up, and will only get worse once they need to travel to Rochester.

It's going to be a long road ahead of them and I'm asking that you prayerfully consider helping your fellow brother & sister in Christ, to eliviate some of their unnecessary stress! Jodi is uncertain when she will be able to get back to work and my hope is that by setting this up, she'll be able to focus on her and Brian's recovery.

Please keep them in your prayers!
