hello!!!!!
i am announcing one last big fundraiser before i stop fundraising for a bit because i am burnt out. i’ve set up a final gofundme for my friend in lebanon who is like a younger brother to me. i’ve been trying to help him and his family become more financially secure during the ongoing war in Lebanon (a joke of a sentence) but things keep getting harder. currently, my friend’s teta is waiting on getting a surgery she really needs because she can’t afford the $3500 USD it costs to get said surgery. in my friend’s words, people die on the steps of the hospital in beirut when they can’t afford health care. just imagine… his landlord is also KICKING them out of the house for oct 1st, and his family needs 2 MONTHS RENT to secure the new place, which is thankfully cheaper than their current apartment.
PLEASE do help me raise this money. to be honest about money right now, i have been sending him my own money when i can’t raise enough because i can’t stand the situation he is in. because metonymy still isn’t making enough money for me and Oliver to pay ourselves, i have not been making enough money that sending money to lebanon is a struggle. i have figured it out on my end with the help of many generous friends and my partner (thank u bbs) but I want to be able to help my friend too!
so please share WIDELY, please give generously if you can, and please help me stop fundraising for this family and help them get housing stability and the healthcare they need.
it’s also hard fundraising from Canada since our money is worth so much less than American money and in Lebanon, the currency they used other than the lira is USD, unfortunately for all of us.
BREAKDOWN:
SURGERY- $3500
TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE HOSPITAL - $30
2 MONTHS ADVANCE RENT- $1600
2 MONTHS FOR UTILITIES- $300
FURNITURE MOVING CHARGES - $250
= 7,878.64 CAD
the extra bit of money will go towards groceries and meds.
thanks for all your help fundraising over the years!
in solidarity always,
eli tareq
