Fundraiser for Annabel's Journey

The daughter of my friend Jamie (a friend since middle school) is going through a health journey and needs your help.  Jamie's family has always given so much.  Both Jamie and her husband Simon have gone on mission trips, have worked with refugee families in United States, and always think of others before themselves.  One of their other children also had health issues early in life.  Even though they've been dealt a lot of issues, they've always been so positive.  I wanted to set up this Go Fund Me because I knew they wouldn't- they always try to do what they can and not ask for help from others.

Annabel's treatment has to take place in Omaha, NE, about a two hour drive from where they live. They need work done on their van to ensure they can get there. The treatment will take at least a month and they need to cover bills during that time.  In addition ,insurance will only kick in after they have spent $5,000 on treatment.  I know they would be so appreciative of any help.

Here's their story....

Our sweet Annabel has always been what you would call a picky eater. But after years of feeling like she just wasn't outgrowing it, feeling like she was not at a healthy weight, and having doctors continually tell us it was"normal"...we sought a second opinion. We finally found someone that would listen to us and began to formulate a plan to figure out what we were dealing with. It's been a long road with lots of appointments, but Annabel has officially been diagnosed with an eating disorder called Avoidant/RestrictiveFood Intake Disorder with a generalized anxiety disorder as well. She's seeing a therapist, a dietitian, and also seeing her pediatrician regularly. We'll be seeking outpatient treatment sometime this summer at a program in Omaha, NE.

Annabel's eating disorder is not at all related to her body image, though it can easily morph into that. She doesn't know the name of the disorder or even that she has one. We've used the angle of just needing her to be healthy and be at her best. She gets very stressed out most times that she eats, she's very anxious about trying new foods, and has some OCD tendencies about food touching, people touching her food, and things looking or tasting"different" than they did before or like she thought it would.

We've had lots of people ask us how they can help, and the most important thing you can do is pray! We know that we serve a big God and He loves us so much. He's done countless miracles in our lives and we know that this is another opportunity for us to watch Him work. We'd love for our friends and family to lift Annabel and our family up in prayer..

Annabel is a beautiful ray of sunshine in everyone's life. She's bubbly, energetic, and fun. She loves to sing and has the voice of an angel. She loves to read and can finish a book in a matter of hours. She loves to try and play pranks and tease but her smile always gives her away. She's an amazing sister, little and big, and just an all around a joy to be around. Read More of the journal titled "Just a quick glance into the purpose of this page...."
