Fundraiser for Amelia
We lost our friend Amelia on July 10th, 2021.
At 27 years, after several years battling as an activist against fascism, transphobia and misoginy, our friend took her on own life. It has been a shock for all of us since : we battled with the grieth and the pain.
But as her funeral happened this week, the battle for Amelia continues. Her family did not extend proper invitations to her friends and close ones to be with her as they were saying "her" goodbye. They did not respect her wishes and misgendered our friend and love one, used her deadname and told the story of the person they wish she was but not the person we knew and love.
Amelia is not here anymore to defend herself, but we will make sure her wishes are respected. This fundraiser aims for several goals :
- offer a proper ceremonial for our friend in November (her favorite time of the year) : normally we should manage on our own but as a lot of her friends lived in Berlin or in every parts of France, this could be helpful to fly / pay the train for some of us
- pay for legal fee if the family keeps insisting on putting her deadname on Amelia's grave
- give the remaining money to charity in her name. Amelia was a kind woman and a great activist. She was part of the Food not Bombs chapter of Besançon, she was a convinced anarchist and antifascist, an amazing feminist and trans activist.
Thank you for your help and time.
