As many may know, my granddaughter Aliyah has Juvenile Huntington’s disease. This disease takes away an individual’s ability to walk, talk and eat. It causes brain deterioration over time, and the prognosis is 10 years after symptom onset.
Aliyah’s health has declined a lot in the last year, and now she is needing to use her wheelchair most of the time. Aliyah needs a van with a wheelchair lift to be able to transport her to her appointments and for everyday life. Jennifer needs to purchase the van by September 1 so the lift to be installed before Aliyah turns 18 on January 28. Thankfully, Milwaukee County will cover the lift installation under the Children’s Long Term Waiver program (which Aliyah will not have any longer after January 28).
How You Can Help
Jennifer and Aliyah are facing some financial difficulties in their current situation. Jennifer went part-time in order to be home and care for Aliyah more. She has a Jeep Cherokee that she owes more than what it is worth. She wants to trade it in for the van but will have a significant balance of about $4,500.
Update:
Aliyah and family received a scholarship from another HD family to attend the HD Symposium. Aliyah loves the theme parks and would love a chance to get to one while she is in the area.
We are so thankful to each and every one of you for your support. This has and will be a tremendously difficult journey but having a support system like you is what helps get us through difficult times. We love you all.
You are more than welcome to share on any
platform to get donations. Thank you!
