Fundraiser for Alice Ledesma

This Go Fund Me page is for the tragic loss of our friend and co-worker, Alice Ledesma, who passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, due to complications from COVID-19. Alice worked as a Police Records Specialist at the Miami-Dade Police Department for 24 years.

Throughout most of her career, Alice worked in the Fingerprint Identification Section, Forensic Services Bureau and was often the main person that encountered and assisted the public with their needs. She helped countless citizens in resolving identity theft issues as well as aided law enforcement personnel in detaining individuals with open warrants. Her attentiveness, passion, and professionalism for assisting others was noted on numerous occasions by the commendations and letters she received from the community she served. Among them, she was described and adored as “courteous, professional and friendly,” someone who “went above and beyond,” “a terrific person,” “top-notch,” and an “example for others to emulate.” Alice touched many people’s lives both inside and outside the Department. She was recognized for her compassion and her exceptional abilities to both listen and provide words of encouragement or reassurance to anyone in need. In many cases, her assistance resolved potentially life-changing identity theft issues. On a daily basis, she positively impacted the citizens of Miami-Dade County by handling their concerns with the utmost care. Alice was also a lifelong lover of animals, including being a foster parent and care giver for many stray animals. Over the years she participated in and donated to various animal organizations, including Good Karma Pet Rescue, the Cat Network, and the Humane Society. Alice was a beloved member of her work family and her presence and nature will be greatly missed by all those that knew her.

Alice is survived by her son Chance; her sisters Lita, Laura, and Rosemary; friends and her extended Miami-Dade Police Department Family.
