Fundraise to Help the Peruvian Pacific Ocean

We are the members of Peruvians for Social Justice (@peruviansocialjustice IG). We are a collective of adoptees looking to make a change within our home country. Recently, our waters have taken on an oil spill which is the worst ecological disaster in Lima in recent times. This oil spill has contributed to the death of local marine life and has threatened the livelihood of the local population.

 

While the Tonga volcanic eruption caused this oil spill, Repsol, a Spanish-owned company whose oil was spilled, should be held accountable on their end. Their company had no protocols in place to handle a spill of this magnitude, and when asked about the damage, they simply acted without urgency.

 

However, in the meantime, we need the community to come together in order to keep the waters clean and liveable for the local communities in Peru.

Our goal is $2,200 USD which equals about 8,500/soles.

 

While we are abroad, we do have organizations in Peru that we will be directly donating to once the goal is reached. We will be splitting up the costs so that we can help as many orgs as we can.

This NGO specialized in the marine and coastal area throughout the Humboldt Marine Current corridor and has boats that can go to help the animals smeared with oil that are in the middle of the sea or on the islands that are a little far from the shore They need fuel to start the boats.

This volunteer team is planning visits to the affected beaches, but for more information you should contact them.


---Salvando Vida Animal (@salvandovidanimal)
This group has been organized to assist the beaches contaminated by oil. Groups will be able to attend today, tomorrow and other days.


---Viernes por el futuro Perú (@fridaysforfutureperu)
This organization will be donating funds to those directly affected by the oil spill. They will be supporting fishermen in the Santa Rosa area.
