My name is Sennan, I'm 13 years old, and I've been selected along with an Explorer from Balderton to represent Coddington, Newark, and Nottinghamshire at the 26th World Scout Jamboree in Gdańsk, Poland in 2027!

This once in a lifetime opportunity brings together over 50,000 Scouts from around the world to share cultures, build friendships, and take part in adventurous activities. Learning leadership, teamwork, and communication skills that will stay with me for life and I’ll be proudly representing the UK and our local community.

To attend the Jamboree, I need to fundraise £3,500. I’ve started my fundraising offering

• Gardening services in my community (£5/hour)

‍ Selling my acrylic art work and scout badges.

Organising Christmas and Easter Fairs, quiz nights , film nights and a bag pack. I have helped my unit by marshalling at events like 10k runs.

I’ve been in Scouting for 7 years and volunteered in community projects like litter picking, beach clean ups, tree planting, St Georges Day Parades and Remembrance.

This Jamboree will help me grow in confidence, meet people from all over the world forging life long friendships. I will Learn about different cultures. Embrace new challenges, and learn new skills to provide a fantastic foundation for adult life.

The Jamboree is a unique experience, with hands on experience, adventure activities and so much more.

In January, the Nottinghamshire Emergency Scout Support Team ran one of the most challenging events in the Scouting calendar, the NESST Challenge Hike.

This wasn't just a walk in the woods. It’s a massive test of teamwork, endurance, pereservance, determination and navigation, often in freezing, unpredictable weather conditions. Routes range from 10 to 18 miles, sometimes more, depending on how well a map can be read in the dark!

I pushed myself physically and mentally. Keeping moving and working together was key especially when legs are tired and fingers and toes are cold. It was my first NIGHT NESST Hike. It was tough, hard work but 100% worth it, how happy was I when the finish line was in sight!
