Who is Phillipe Monguillot?
Phillippe Monguillot was a French bus driver, carrying out his everyday duties as a driver in the city of Bayonne. On the day of July 5th, he was attacked by five of his passengers after he asked them to comply with local policies and put on masks while travelling on the bus.
Two of them actively beat Phillippe Monguillot while the other two were charged for failing to assist a person in danger and another for attempting to hide a suspect.

Why does it matter to you then?
I have not personally known Mr Monguillot, but I am a bus driver as well. Every day some 200 out of 25,000 London bus drivers will experience some form of abuse by passengers. Being a London bus driver, I have also experienced this. This tragic death hit especially hard, considering the fact that Phillipe Monguillot was just doing his duty, trying to comply with local laws and trying to do his job properly for his passengers’ safety.
This fundraiser is not only personal, but I hope that bus drivers all around the world could unite on this. We can show our support for the family of the late Phillipe Monguillot and how we are in this together.
What are the funds needed for?
The funds gained in this campaign will go directly to the wife of Mr Phillipe. Funds will be at their disposal helping in paying for the funeral, and oncoming financial challenges for them.
