Hi my name is Julia Quitugua. I'm a friend of Katie. Helping her with this go fund me account because I get a message from Jessica (Katies Roomate) on Katie's fb messenger. It states,
"We were riding bikes in general Luna in Siargao coming home from surfing. Katie lost control of her bike and flew into the air landing in a ditch and hitting a tree. She was unconscious for five minutes. An ambulance arrived and we got to the hospital but couldn't treat her. We took a three hour boat ride to surigao where they stabilized her but are still unable to treat her or check her head for injuries there are no CT scanners on the island. She needs surgery on her right arm and a metal platelet. We need 11000 for the airlift and at least 4000 for surgery ASAP. Transport is picking us up tomorrow and we have to pay when we get to Manila at St Luke's Hospital in global city but we have no money at all. I've spent almost 600 so far on the little treatment she's received"
My understanding is that she has some internal bleeding, fractured arm and pelvis, and some head injuries. I started this account because they had limited internet connection at the time.
I plan on giving access to her mother so she can withdraw directly the GoFundMe account. I've been in contact with her within the past 24 hours.
She should be able to withdraw money within the next two to five business days when she accept the account invitation.
