Funding For College

My name is Devontay Davis and I am a 2018 graduate from Grad Academy Memphis High school.  I graduated 9th overall in a class of 133 scholars with a 3.5 GPA. I am looking forward to taking the next steps towards extending my educational career but with a little help. I will be attending MacMurray college in Jacksonville, Illinois for four years to seek a double major with Bachelor’s degrees in both Criminal Justice and Education with a minor in Business Administration. With these degrees, I plan to become a high school principal, eventually opening my own network of  high schools throughout the mid-south. I have a passion for working with and mentoring teens and coaching them on how to make good life decisions. In my own community I have seen a need for safe and productive environments where teens can have their voices heard and valued. My network of schools will address this need by training and teaching teens in respect, discipline, and the power of positive attitudes to change challenging situations. I believe it is important for teens to have opportunities to have hands-on experiences and to engage in real life scenarios that allow them to explore both the social and academic aspects of life and an education at MacMurray College will prepare me to make these goals a reality.  


Due to my high academic achievement during my high school career, I received a  $72,000 Academic Scholarship covering the majority of my expenses for all four years of my education. Although my scholarship covers most of the expenses from Tuition & Fees and Housing & Meals I still have an out of pocket contribution of $5,000 in order to obtain my degrees and continue my educational career. Right now I am currently working and applying for outside scholarships that will help pay for the $5,000, however I am looking for people to partner with me in bringing my goal of obtaining higher education to fruition.  

I am looking forward to this next step in my life as I view college as a necessary next step to not only achieve my full potential, but also to set me on a path that will allow me to give back to others.

I am looking for any donations and will be truly grateful for all support and supporters. that I have to maintain a set GPA requirement of a 3.0 or higher and stay involved in campus life. To maintain this GPA, I will be joining clubs and study organizations that will allow me to study and keep track of my grades. I will also work alongside with the MacMurray football team. Working with them will cause me to be more involved and aware of my grades because I will be working to secure me a spot on the football team.The coach stated that “ being a member of this team will require you to stay on track in your classes and to perform at your maximum potential”. My career goal will motivate me to stay focus in class and keep my grades up.

Any and all donations will go directly  towards the the remaining fees for college. The funds are needed by December 1st, 2018 to MacMurray college.
