Introduction
My name is Darcy Whent, and I am a Welsh Born Bristol-based artist whose practice explores themes of memory, identity, autofiction, and emotional conflict. My work examines the complexities of storytelling, particularly the way personal and collective memories are shaped, distorted, and rewritten over time. I am passionate about using painting, installation, and mixed media to create immersive experiences that encourage reflection on the narratives we inherit and construct.
I have exhibited widely, including my solo show On All Fours in London (2024), and was shortlisted for the Freelands Painting Prize (2023). I am currently based at Pennywell Studios, Bristol.
My upcoming exhibition, Tell Tales, is a deeply personal yet universally resonant project that revisits childhood storytelling, examining the fine line between truth and fiction. I am seeking funding to bring this project to life, ensuring it reaches a wide audience and sparks conversations around memory, honesty, and the ways we shape our past.
Why Support Tell Tales?
Memory is never fixed—it shifts, fades, and is often rewritten. Tell Tales examines this universal experience, connecting personal recollections with broader social narratives. Your support will enable me to fully realise this project, ensuring that it reaches its full potential through high-quality materials, exhibition space, and public engagement.
