Funding The Fight For a Cancer-Free Future

My wingman Philip James Baber, father to our daughters Farrah (13) and Alexa (11), died on Sunday 29th October 2023 after an epic fight to overcome a terminal, stage four cancer diagnosis he received out of the blue aged 47, in May 2019.
Hundreds of you kind souls have sent such uplifting messages about Philip during the past ten days in which many of you have asked how you can help commemorate his life. So I’ve set up this GoFundMe page to donate to the Spanish Not-For-Profit Fundación Fero in his name.
During his last four years with us Philip volunteered for clinical trials funded by Fero, taking place in pioneering biomedical laboratories Spain-wide. Since its inception in 2001, the Foundation, working closely with the National Institutes of Cancer Research in both Madrid and London, has financed world-leading, cutting-edge translational research undertaken by the brightest molecular and genomic scientists, for a future without cancer, and Philip told us this is where he wanted all of our efforts to go.
The outpouring of love has embraced us like a giant global hug and we hope that together we can apply this groundswell of positive energy born out of love for Philip towards helping shape a future free from this horrible disease.
No cancer should be terminal; with more focus and awareness all cases should and can be prevented.
Our mission - which our ultra-athletic new Global Content Editor Kiki King is helping me orchestrate - is to collectively swim 555km circumnavigating Mallorca (echoing Phil´s own fundraising swimathon in 2020) to raise 10,000Euros to donate to Fero´s vital cutting-edge scientific research to better detect, deter and deny cancer in its earliest and therefore most curable stages.
In Philip´s name we want to help accelerate equitable access to optimal targeted cellular and genetic therapies which have the ever-increasing synergistic potential to nip cancer in the bud.
We shall welcome any contribution, no matter how small. If 2001 of you who loved and / or were inspired by Philip donate just 5 Euros we shall exceed our target!
