Funding Support 'zoochosis'

We are a team of students studying Film at The University of Brighton in our second year. 'Zoochosis' is a short film project we are currently working on. Right now, we are in preproduction. we are casting, making, testing and, of course, budgeting.

Our film follows a woman called Eve dealing with a condition called Zoochosis, a disease animals in captivity contract that induces psychosis and often death. As Eve descends into madness, we follow her partner's reaction to the events, seeing him eventually making the difficult decision to contact the proper authorities of this dystopian world. He is horrified when the only treatment is to euthanise Eve. Our writer Elsie took this concept and applied it to humans, speaking on the impact current societal structures have on our mental health. Our themes include captivity and claustrophobia, Grief and Guilt and an overarching feeling of dread.

We picked this script because not only does it have clear themes and a point to make but it is a technical challenge. Each role in the production was considered, the writing creating space for each member of the team to have creative autonomy and exploration.

This production is something each of us is so excited to create and share. if you would like to support us in this endeavour, we will be eternally grateful.

Thank you!
