Funding Stacie's Treatment
Donation protected
Last year, our lives were turn upside down. My niece, Stacie was diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma cancer. Stacie’s journey started with persistent rectum pain which were misdiagnosed as a haemorrhoid. She was told it was a haemorrhoid and encouraged to consume more fibre. The pain persisted and she decided to see a gastroenterologist. Again, she was told it was a haemorrhoid and given a cream to apply to the area. Finally, when the test results came back, doctors discovered that her blood level was below normal and ordered a colonoscopy, to make sure there was no internal bleeding. During the colonoscopy doctors saw the “haemorrhoid” and knew something was wrong. They took a sample to be tested and on March 13, 2018 doctors told Stacie it was melanoma.
The delay in identifying and treating the cancer meant that it had grown. Since being diagnosed, the cancer has spread to her ovaries, shoulder, leg and parts of her lungs. She has had surgeries to try to remove the cancer and has gone through numerous blood transfusions, immunotherapy and chemotherapy.
Stacie continues to be positive about her treatment and lives her life as best as she can. She continues to work (when she has strength) and does her best to reassure everyone that she’s fine. Her spirit and optimistic has been what have kept us (her family sane). Although she has medical insurance, it does not cover all her treatment cost and she still need to pay out of pocket.
As many of you may be aware, Stacie is currently residing in MN with my sister, Xue Vue, her auntie, while her parents are in NC. Because Xue has kindly volunteered, without asking and hesitation, taken on the roll as Stacie's driver and carer, meaning she takes Stacie to her appointments and is always there to listen and question the doctors, she along with Stacie will decide on how the money raised will be spend (in terms of treatment). Our goal is to ensure that Stacie is given the best treatment so she can beat this.
Your donations will enable Stacie to continue to get the treatment she needs to beat this.
She is so young and has so much to live for.
We (her family) have decided to come together collectively to raise funds for her treatment. We truly appreciate any support you can offer. Thank you.
